Brahmatal Trek

Brahmatal Trek - Brahmatal Lake and trekking destination in the Garhwal Himalayas, mountain ranges located in the state of Uttarakhand,India. Height 3734 Meters (12250ft) ASL it had become a good trekking spot because of its proximity to plains as well as breathtaking panoramic view of the Himalayas with of Mt Trisul and Mt Nanda Gunti, Mt Behartoli, Mt Mrigthuni, Mt Maiktoli, Mt Tharkot, Mt Bhanoti. According to Hindu belief, lord Brahma (the Creator) had meditated beside this lake and hence it got its name as Brahmatal Lake or Brahma's lake. The Brahmatal trek takes one through beautiful valleys, hushed hamlets, streams, and conifers, and oak forests. In winter, the region is covered in a sheath of snow and offered an unparalleled Himalayan view.

 Itinerary For The Tour

Day 0 Start form Train to Kathgodam from Delhi

Day 1 Kathgodam to Lohajung ( 9 hrs drive ):Pickup from Kathgodam Station drive to Lohajung . Altitude 7,662 ft. Drive 225 km 8-9 hrs drive to reach Lohajung

Day2

Lohajung to Bekaltal (6 km/4-5 hours) Altitude 10,440 ft


Day 3 Bekaltal to Brahmatal (7 km/ 3-4 hours)

Day 4 Brahmatal to Brahmatal Top and Back

Day 5 Brahmatal to Lohajung(9 km/ 6-7 hours)

Day 6 Lohajung to Kathgodam(215 km/9 hours)


 Things To Carry

Sandakphu  is a high altitude trek. The trekking gear you need is different from other regular treks.
  1. Trekking Shoes - Good shoes with sturdy, good grip, ankle support and can handle land and snow

  2. Backpack - Need 50-60 litre backpack. Make sure your backpack has good hip support, shoulder support and quick access pockets. One 20litre day backpack if you offloading your main backpack. We do not encourage offloading your backpack make backpack light wight so u carry while trekking.

  3. Clothes - Weather changes in the mountains every hours need wearing in layers give you maximum protection and easy to takeoff or put on layers as required. T-shirts -3 Collared Dry-fit T-shirts quickly dry your sweat, easy to wash, in rainy days they dry quicker. Round neck T-shirts are ok, but we suggest collared ones are better. 2 Nomal T- Shirt which can weared in night while sleeping. Trek pants - Two pairs of trek pants for trekking and one for night sleeping Winter: During Dec to Feb Thermal pair

  4. Insulation layers - Thermal top, Full-sleeve light sweater, Wind Proof and cold Proof Jacket that keeps the wind and cold out. Avoide heavy sweater. Winter: During Dec to Feb Thermal pair

  5. Sunglasses - UV protection sunglasses to prevent snow blindness. Especially during end Dec to Jan expect to walk on long stretches and overexposure to direct sunlight on snow

  6. Suncap, Woollen cap or Balaclava - . Any Sun caps with flaps to avoide headaches, sun strokes, quick dehydration. Mountains, the general rule is to keep your head, hand and feet covered at all times Woollen cap or Balaclava- During Early mornings, late evenings, a cold trekking you must use your woollen cap.

  7. Hand gloves - Normal gloves enough except during Dec to Jan you are going to be handling snow quite a bit your need Woollen or Synthetic hand gloves (synthetic hand gloves that have waterproofing on the outside and a padded lining on the inside) to keep you warm

  8. Socks (3-4 pairs) - Two sports socks, Two woollen socks

  9. Headlamp & Tourch - Headlamp helps leaves your hands free to do other activities and a small handheld torch need when your free time walk around its backup for your headlamp and extra batteries.

  10. Trekking poles - Its very much helpful while trekking high alltitute treks

  11. Rainwear/ ponchos - Carry a light weight poncho or a rain jacket to protect yourself from downpour and one backpack cover
  12. Daypack - Daypack is mandatory if your offloading your main backpack.

  13. Toilet kit - You will not be able to have a bath on the trek. so carry just the basics Essential like toothbrush, toothpaste, small soap, oil, toilet tissue roll, small moisturiser, lip balm and roll-on deodorant.

  14. Cutlery - Stainless steel cutlery and Plate

  15. Water Bottel - Keep Two 1 litre bottles or a 2 litre hydration pack while treking it must

  16. Plastic covers - Keep your used cloths and wet clothes

  17. Basic Medicin - Bring basic Personal medicin as required as u use regular (Note: We keep all medical kits required for the trek and medical emergency)

 How to Make yourself fit for the trek and Do's & Don'ts

 

Do's - To keep fit for any altitude trek combination of distance and speed targets. (Minimum 30 -45 Days Before you start workout)


 
  • Start Walk atlist 1 km then start jogging slow pace and then keep increasing your pace day by day.
  • Jogging slow pace set target completing 3 km in 30-35 minutes when you begin for week. Then increase to target completing 5 km in 45 minutes. After 2-3 week keep 3-5kg weight on back and jogg
  • If you are above 40-45 you can start with long distance walking and jogging slow pace then keep increasing your pace day by day to fast long walk and jogging speed
  • If prefers cycling over running, your target must be to cover 10 km increase 5 km a week
  • After walk, Jogg and cycling regular head to toe exercise atlist 15-30 mints must keep you all muscles free and relax
  • Drink regular water warm water atlist 5 liter per day
  • After two week try to run 100m-200m-400m Sprinting and do regular exercise atlist 15-30 mints
